Sacramento: Day 3 (Napa)
Sorry haven’t checked in in a while, busy enjoying Napa and the fabulous wine and weather out here. Having a picnic right now (second picture) and I’m so happy with today. Sent three bottles home from the last place we were at and…wow can’t even explain how good of a place I’m in. Best Monday ever.
Woops, wrong blog!
Seattle: Day 3
Ended up walking into a flash pillow fight mob or something. I even got playfully bopped on the head to make it legit.
That last picture shows “gifts” Im bringing to Sacramento, straight from Pikes Place Market. Delicious ginger beer (original and blood orange flavor) and a pound of prosciutto. Sooooo excited to enjoy these tomorrow.
Anyway, back at the hotel and waiting for the shuttle to take me to the light rail to get me to the airport. A good send-off from Seattle! See you in Sac!
Just mapped out my schedule for today and really glad I decided to not go to the EMP. I’d only have about 3-4 hours between checkout and when I’d have to head to the airport. With the extra time needed grabbing goodies for Sacramento and getting to Pikes, it really cuts down on time.
Ah well. Like I said, just something to look forward to when I come back up here!
Seattle: Day 2 Photos!
It was a super beautiful day today, as you can see by the SUN. lol. But really, perfect for walking around by the water and Market. I can already see myself living here.
*Again, sorry for the randomness of the photos, they are from my phone and were the easiest to upload. I have more on my big camera that I hope to upload later!
So many places, so little time. Can’t wait to come back to this city!
Seattle: Day 1 Photos!
As you can see, it was pretty rainy yesterday, thus I kept it close to the vicinity and didn’t to wander too far in the rain. Still saw some amazing views and art! Definitely recommend these places!
*Keep in mind, these are just from my phone. Sorry about the quality, but they were the easiest for me to upload. ><
Day 2 was MUCH more active than Day 1, I’m happy to say.
The day started off beautifully, I was worried about rain, but it ended up being a beautiful (if breezy) partly cloudy day. I was going to take the bus downtown, but the hotel I’m at was super helpful and suggested their shuttle or the monorail. The shuttle ended up running a bit late, and wasn’t gonna run later into the evening, so I took the monorail and got to see a really nice view of the city.
The monorail went straight to Westlake center, which is a couple blocks from Pike’s Place Market. I walked to the market and started on the outer block alongside the market. There were a fair amount of people walking about already, but everything moved pretty quickly and smoothly. I grabbed a coffee at the very first Starbucks (oooh yeah I’m so special haha) and continued down the block enjoying the various food-sights and sounds. There was a small park at the end of the market, where I got a few good pics of the waterfront and a totem pole. There was also a guy with a coonskin hat wandering around with his big furry cat. He eventually picked up said cat and put him on his shoulders, and continued on his way. Could already tell it was gonna be an interesting day.
Walking through the market I saw lots of neat art, food stuffs, and got to try TONS of samples. I honestly want to go back on a separate trip just so I can SHOVE money at these people and try some of all of their food I wanna cry I didn’t get to try all the oils, honey, pasta, seafood, dried foods….*internal foodie scream* I really recommend it to anyone who loves a good snack. Or interesting sights! Or sounds! EVERYONE. Everyone needs to go! In the end, I bought a vintage “LIFE” magazine from the week my dad was born, as an early bday gift (I had trouble finding mom’s, I’m gonna check once I’m back home); I also got a really nice handmade magnet made by this really nice old man. He hand-makes tiny little scenes inside nutshells that are made with real spices to look like groceries and stands at the Market. They are super cute! I also got some really nice cherries for my mom (dark chocolate and milk chocolate truffle. Literally some of the best chocolate/fruits I’ve bought. Mmm. For lunch I went to Beecher’s, a place that makes their own cheese (!!!) and had a DELICIOUS grilled cheese that had tomato/basil/Beecher spread in it and dang it’s STILL making me hungry. Stopped off at this place called Piroshky Piroshky after and bought an apple cinnamon roll pastry that I’m gonna eat for dessert tonight, and I also bought and sent off my postcards!
After my very fulfilling day at Pikes Place Market, I wandered down to Pioneer Square to see what was there. I thought there would be a bit more than I expected (sort of a more enclosed area with shops and stuff) but after heading back up the other side of the square I found the Underground Tour, and that was pretty fun! The guide was really entertaining, and its a good way to spend about 1.5 hrs. A definite must-see for history buffs. Headed back up to Pikes Market to find a possible site for dinner (mailed my last postcard on the way there) and ended up at this place called Rachel’s Ginger Beer. I’d seen it when I was wandering Post Alley, and after the long day of walking (and the uphill way back from Pioneer Square) I really needed something to cool off with.
The lady who helped me was actually the mom of the owner, and she was super nice. They have all sorts of natural ginger beer, and they even sell some cocktails and shakes! I had to try one, and I got a drink that had the original ginger beer, gin, and aperol. Super good. And what was doubly nice was that I got a bowl of popcorn with it! Nice snack/early dinner lol. What an idea. I really hope they spread south to LA, but for now I’ll just have to deal with buying some for myself.
Tomorrow I was going to plan on seeing the EMP, which is just down the street from me, but I am really tired and I sort of want to sleep in…I also promised to pick up some food and ginger beer for my friend in Sacramento when I fly out tomorrow, and I want to pick up some donuts for myself too (and coffee, I definitely need coffee) and then I don’t wanna be rushed…but I’d probably have to end up at the airport early….
Ah well. Honestly, I could leave Seattle first thing tomorrow and still be completely happy with my trip. Next time I come up, I’ll definitely hit up the market (yes again IT’S THAT GOOD!), try the Space Needle when it isn’t raining and crazy windy, and take a boat ride across the water to an island or something because that looks so fun. I already can’t wait to come back!
Honestly. I’m pooped and still ready for more. And upon writing that, I think I’ll save the EMP for the next time I come up, because I need to save something as new when I come back up! :P
Wishing you all well and I’ll see if I can get another post in tomorrow! If not, see you in Sacramento!
You can apparently buy ocarinas at Pikes Market!
I totally should’ve waited to go up to the Space Needle today. It’s not even raining!! WTH
Oh weather. You are….so….dang…unpredictable…. Ah well… At least I met someone nice yesterday.
Anyway, heading to Pike’s Place Market today, and gonna explore Pioneer Square too while I’m down there. Gotta get goin!
Finally settled at the hotel. Phone is charging and I’m double checking some times and attractions and stuff near me. Luckily, it hasn’t really started to rain yet, but I’m really gonna try and hurry and grab tickets for the Space Needle so I can get some good pics while it’s still okay out. (by okay i mean gloomy but at least it’s not raining)
I got my coat and an umbrella, I’m not too worried.
Write more later tonight!
In the airport, about to board my flight to Seattle, and I’m laughing because I literally scheduled my trip there right in the middle of a fantastic few days of rain.
No joke. The rain is set to start around the time I land. Perfect timing.
Luckily, that hasn’t phased me, since Ive been craving rain since socal is in a drought right now, and Seattle is known for, well, rain and gloom.
Definitely feel like Im getting the authentic experience. I’ll write again when I’m settled up north!
I miss this place so much, guys.
Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. There haven’t really been any travels I’m going on, especially since I’m in school. The only possible trip I see would happen in December. I’m getting more active on another one of my blogs here on Tumblr, so hopefully I’ll remember to post in this one too!
Love you all, hope you’re having great travels without me! As always, I’m open for questions. <3
